We’re not often dead serious (it’s the secret to our youth), but the freedom to love is something we don’t joke about.

Since 2009, both gay and straight people have been gathering once a year at Hong Lim Park to show their support for the freedom to love. Pink Dot is a uniquely pink affair – we’re talking about a pink mascot, DIY pink lights, and pink balloons – raises awareness of the issues important to members of the LGBTQ community.

Pink Dot 2013 aims to drive home the message of inclusivity and diversity and drive out the fear and ignorance that might tear families with LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer) members apart.

Most of us know what it’s like to be denied things that we really like or love – remember that toy you couldn’t have as a kid or game you couldn’t play because it “wasn’t right for you” and you couldn’t understand why? This is one of the many issues faced by members of the LGBT community even in adulthood or old age; the difference is it isn’t child’s play anymore.

Aptly titled ‘Home’, this year’s Pink Dot aims to show the need for inclusivity and acceptance for everyone in Singapore. Restore your faith in devotion and care, and be part of a call to all LGBT Singaporeans to stand upp for the freedom to love.

We fully support the freedom to love and we hope you do too. See you there!

29 June, 5pm. Hong Lim Park.
