National Day is almost here! Haven’t scored tix to the main event but you want in? Want to party minus the throng? Keen to soak up the festive spirit but not so keen on threading in a heaving sea of patriotism? There are loads of festivities taking place online and out and about now and during National Day. Here’s a rundown of ways to get involved if you can’t catch a live glimpse of the parade or fireworks.
1. NDP 2014 Publicity Roadshow
See what’s in store for this year’s National Day Parade at the publicity roadshows cropping up around the island.

2. SAFRA Celebrations
Escape the crowd in town and check out what your nearest SAFRA has got planned for the occasion! West-side folks will be glad to know that SAFRA Jurong will be holding a red and white themed fiesta, complete with food and drinks, free dip in their pool, and live NDP screening, while easties can revel in SAFRA Tampines’s nostalgia themed party.

3. Esplanade Presents National Day Celebrations
Theatres On The Bay has planned an exciting line-up of family fun activities, from reliving the good ol’ days with nostalgic childhood games (Kampung Games, Aug 8-10) to face painting (Face Painting at Esplanade Concourse, Aug 9), drumming workshops (Drum Circle, Aug 10) to an afternoon of local tunes (Songs from the Red Dot, Aug 10). 4. Home Through Our Eyes (Photos/Videos)
Get in on the National Day celebrations at home via the Home Through Our Eyes initiative. Share pictures and videos depicting what Home means to you and what you love about the Lion City. Look out for the best entries on the NDP website, download the NDP mobile app, or check out the#ndp2014 hashtag on Instagram!

5. Listen to NDP 2014 songs
Check out the playlist of NDP 2014 songs – you’ll find yourself singing along to the catchy mix of new creations and old favourites.
6. Win NDP fun-packs and actual day tickets

8. Singapore DJs Guinness World Record Attempt at National Day Carnival
As part of the National Day Carnival, over 160 local DJs will make history for our nation in a Guinness World Record attempt for the most number of disc jockey performances at one location in a relay. Be sure to stay till the end for the live NDP screening, fireworks display, and an exciting after party.

9. Ku De Ta Celebrations
If you’re looking to party up a storm this National Day, Ku De Ta has got you covered. Catch all the pyrotechnic goodness from 57 levels high as you groove to the sunset sounds of DJ Shintaro and mastermind producers, Satin Jackets. Tickets are priced at $38 a pop.
