Korean Street Style

Thanks to the power of K-Pop, anything ‘K’ is now cool and stylish – especially when it comes to fashion and beauty. Here’s where to get all kitted out in Korean threads for that street style look straight from Seoul.

Bricks and Mortar
In the new wing of Plaza Singapura you will find two popular Korean brands. ANDEW offers both ladies and men high quality apparel and accessories. We like their urban-modern everyday style and quality clothing. For handcrafted, trendy shoes at wallet-friendly prices, check out Spur Shoes on Level 4. We love that they have comfy concealed heel flats, since totally flat shoes don’t provide enough support.

You might remember Headline Seoul’s amazing debut at Front Row’s pop-up shop in 2012 – they had to give the brand a whole dedicated store to keep up with demand! As the name goes, this label (they opened their flagship store at Wheelock Place early last year) is one of THE places to shop for funky, affordable Korean fashion.

Geared to the younger end of the female spectrum is Love n Show at Orchard Central. Don’t let its over-pretty storefront fool you; it’s a treasure trove if you’re willing to spend the time delving deeper. The boutique stocks everything from bags and accessories to apparel and swimwear.

Style Nanda at the newly opened I.t Singapore (a tri-level multi-label shopping heaven) is arguably South Korea’s version of Nastygal – basically one for the bad-ass fashionistas. The best part? Worshippers of their cult beauty line 3CE (3 Concept Eyes) can also head to Luxola.

Singapore’s most luxe department store, Robinsons Orchard, is home to a few Korean brands making their foray into the Singaporean market. You’ll find leading Korean casualwear brand Basic House, which is great for essential pieces like tees, polos, and fitted denim. Looking for something that takes your man from work to weekends? Sharp tailoring in uncomplicated yet trendy designs is what you’ll find at Mind Bridge.

Based on the premise that clothes can and should be conversation starters, Drink Beer Save Water’s customizable black and white tees are the talk of the town, which, unfortunately, are only for the boys. If you’re looking for custom-made Korean fashion accessories, look no further than Salut de Miel, literally ‘hello honey’ in French (cute!).

If you’re a fan of either Korean based designer Juun.J or American artist Josh Luke, we have awesome news to share. The Global Pop-up Project – at Club 21b, Forum The Shopping Mall, from 13 June to 6 July – is the pair’s hotly anticipated collaboration. Expect edgy (and exclusive) tees, bomber jackets, sweatshirts, and backpacks at the pop-up.

On the World Wide Web
If you prefer shopping and brandishing your credit card at 2am, there’s no shortage of sites that ship Korean street style to your doorstep. Style conscious boys and girls, check out the latest things in-trend on Zipia, a wholesale site and online fashion network based in South Korea. Warning: the gorgeous models will make you feel like buying everything you see. At least they’ve finally reduced their minimum purchase amount down to US$200.

Known as Korea’s eBay, shopping on Gmarket Korea might require a little more effort since you’d be liaising directly with individual sellers in Korea, but it’s a treasure trove if you have the time to trawl each mini shop. Chances are you’ll be able to find what you want on Gmarket in less than half an hour.

With most of their handpicked designs from Seoul, Al et Clar stocks quality clothing for ladies. But what we like best is their range of services that help you in developing your personal style, if you ever do need help. And if you ever do become a fan of this online boutique, they put together whole outfits that are purchasable at a discount! Other e-tailers based in Singapore that ship their products in directly from Korea include Ministry of Retail and Stylezi.
