In the fourth and final edition of our Supper Club series, we dived into the heart of town to suss out fab eats to cure your late night hunger pangs! Don’t forget to check out our scoop on the best supper spots in the West and North, East, and Central Heartlands.
Tanjong Pagar
Swanky CBD bar The Black Swan offers a special supper menu (available 1030pm to 1am), to go with your boozy beverages, which includes shucked on demand oysters, crostinis, sliders, charcuterie, and small plates.
Craig Road is more than just a café hotspot; it also hosts the stylish Fordham & Grand bar, reminiscent of speakeasy bars from the 1920s, which crafts exquisite cocktails and dishes out classic American fare like steak and fries till 2am.
Craving comfort hawker food for supper? Head over to good ol’ Maxwell Food Centre (1 Kadayanallur St, Singapore 069184). Hoe Kee Porridge (#01-45) is practically an institution in this part of town, and we are huge fans of their generous bowls of Cantonese porridge – which are served till 230am.
KKo Kko Nara Korean Fried Chicken
Perfect with a swig of beer (or Korean soju liqueur), Kko Kko Nara Korean Fried Chicken’s lip-smacking drumlets – original, soy garlic, sweet & spicy, and hot & spicy – are served daily till 3am.Other notable Tra Street restaurant-bars, for nibbles and tipples, include Bam Tapas-Sake Bar (open till Midnight), Café Gavroche (open till Midnight), and House of Dandy (open till late).
If you’re looking to drink up a storm along Club Street, we suggest grabbing some delish bites while you’re at it! PS Café Ann Siang opens till 2am, and even if the kitchen is closed for the day, you can still get desserts off the counter.
O Batignolles is one of our favourite French bistros – check out their Ladies Night champagne deal – and you can get classic French bites, to complement your bubbly, till midnight.
Mex lovers should already be familiar with Pistola, an Asian-Mexican joint that whips up some mean tacos and (gasp!) tequila chicken till late.
Rochor
Rochor Original Beancurd (2 Short Street) needs no introduction. Popular amongst locals, especially university students around the area, the silky smooth sweet beancurd, fried dough fritters, and egg tarts are a must try!
Ma La Hui Cui Guan
Steamboat at 4am? Sure, why not. Ma La Hui Cui Guan specialises in Sze-Chuan style steamboat, which is renowned for its varying levels of spiciness, and they open all the way till 530am!
Feeling famished? Sing Ho Hainan Chicken Rice (266 Middle Road) will have you sorted. Though they usually run out of roast chicken late into the night, their steamed chicken is delish as well.
Al-Jilani Restaurant (127 Bencoolen Street) is the place to get your prata fix in town. Open 24 hours, the place is usually packed with nocturnal folks and over-worked university students.
Clarke Quay
Clarke Quay aka Singapore’s party central offers a host of late night food options for all party troopers on the island. Pints & Curries is a casual beer and curry gastro-pub that can satisfy your cravings for Thai or North Indian, even at 4am, every night.
If you’re looking to chow on some fish and chips, burgers, calamari, or truffle fries that are worth the calories, hit up District 10 at Clarke Quay!
Senor Taco
Get your late night taco fix at Senor Taco, who whip up some of the freshest Mex grub in town! They even own their own tortilla factory, to ensure top quality tacos are served to their guests.
Dig into authentic Korean grub, from Korean pancakes, stews, to fried chicken, till the wee hours of the morning at the hip Boss BarBQ. What’s even better? Live music performed by a host of local talents.
One of the go-to supper spots for a post-party bite, Xiao Chen Bak Kut Teh dishes out warm, soothing bowls of herbal pork rib soup, which can be paired with ride and a slew of other traditional side dishes.
Robertson Quay
For a taste of Belgian supper, It’s gotta be Brussel Sprouts, where you can order up Belgian beer and a pot of mussels or clams with free flow fries.
En Japanese Dining Bar
Japanese till 2am? Your answer lies in En Japanese Dining Bar – don’t forget to try their Okinawan specialties!
Supper along the Singapore River at EM by the River – Robertson Quay’s popular brunch spot, which also serves up sips and savouries late into the night.
Boasting wallet-friendly wine and tapas (starting from six bucks), Robertson Quay’s Wine Connection Tapas Bar & Bistro is a popular watering hole amongst tippleholics on the island.
The Merry Men Kitchen + Bar is all about creating the perfect chill-out spot for friends and family. Sink your teeth into comfort Western grub like pizzas, while knocking back a few drinks and enjoying the live music on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
BoCHINche
For a taste of Argentinian on our little red dot, take a gander down towards Martin Road and check out BoCHINche (right above Common Man Coffee Roasters). Spa Esprit’s quite recently opened restaurant venture will impress!
A little off Robertson Quay lies the River Valley stretch, where you can find popular nightclubs like Zouk and supper spots like the famous Spize prata house. Note: You might run into quite a few drunk friends (who got boozed up at a club) while you’re there, but the extensive supper menu is worth it!
Boat Quay
Arguably the most popular supper spot along Circular Road, Yan Kee Noodle House (located in BK Eating House) is the place to get your minced pork noodle fix.
The Vault’s cool lounge (psst… they have shifted to Circular Road if you didn’t know) is a great place to grab a cocktail and chill with pals. Snacks from their test kitchen are served till 1230am on Wednesdays and Thursdays and till 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.
For a late night bite with a view, venture up to The Mad Men Attic & Bar. Not only do they have an extensive alcohol menu, you can order up their nibbles and gobbles till late.
Orchard
Dig into fuss-free Japanese-style Chinese food, like gyoza, fried rice, and ramen, at the Ohsho (#01-10 Cuppage Plaza).
Ramen Mitsubachi
We never say no to a rich bowl of Japanese tonkotsu ramen, even at 3am. Slurp down a delish bowl at Ramen Mitsubachi, which takes over the now-defunct Kitakata Ramen Tamakichi and Noodle House Ken.
Order up your usual hawker fare at Orchard Hawker Food Square (besides Le Meridien Singapore Shopping Centre) – Orchard Road’s version of Makansutra Glutton Bay.
Make the trip into the seemingly dingy Orchard Tower and you’ll be rewarded with authentic Thai classics at Jane Thai.
