Girls, here’s one good reason to go East: next month luxe label Choo Yilin Artisan Jewellery is set to open its first boutique in a Joo Chiat conservation shophouse. The area’s main claim to fame is food and culture, but for us, sparkly gemstones are just as alluring.
Jewellery with a conscience? We’re sold. The label works with heritage and social impact communities to create items that carry a piece of history with them. Classic accessories are modernised here; think jade bangles with shiny floral appliqués or bespoke gemstones. The Posey & Floret series offers rose gold earrings and pendants inlaid with colourful birthstones. Covet pieces from her latest Peranakan collection, The Four Seasons, when the boutique opens its doors.
The store’s interior, which we stole a peek into, pays homage to Peranakan culture and other Asian influences. Serious shoppers can head to the private VIP room – done up in muted blues and greys to reflect Choo Yilin’s brand colours – for a private consultation with their team of personal stylists.
This homegrown brand has done us proud internationally, too. Its bespoke heirloom pieces have been featured at Paris Fashion Week, and on the pages of The New York Times – score!
