Inspired by legendary New York bars of the 19th century, Regent Hotel’s luxe new bar is set to revive the Golden age of fine drinking, right here on our little red dot.
Manhattan’s grand, 89-seater space is an absolute feast for the eyes – think sophisticated black lacquer panels, refined Italian marble, and stylishly upholstered leather chairs. But we reckon the real eye-catcher has to be the stunning display of more than 300 illuminated bottles, which becomes the dramatic backdrop against which the bartenders perform.
This bar is home to the world’s first in-hotel rickhouse, a unique workshop featuring over 100 American oak barrels which will be used to finish whiskies and other spirits, and to age bitters and single-cask cocktails. Manhattan also has a special ingredients room stocked with a remarkable collection of unusual ingredients from around the world like wildcherry bark and shisandra berries – plenty of inspiration for Head Bartender Ricky Paiva to concoct his bespoke cocktails, we think.
So drink your way through famed neighbourhoods like Spanish Harlem, Theatre District, and Wall Street, with Ricky’s rotating menu of 25 cocktails inspired by the rich history, cultures, and flavours of the intriguing city. An exclusive Knickerbocker lager, a refreshingly crisp lager with a light fruity feel, will also be on tap.
Pair your handcrafted tipples with gourmet bites from American Chef Nicholas Trosien’s menu, which is reminiscent of New York’s melting pot of cultures. Have the shrimp ceviche tacos topped with Bloody Mary sauce, house-made kettle chips served with pan-fried onion dip laced with rum-infused grated foie gras, and the street style hot dogs dressed with mustard made with the Knickerbocker lager. End on a sweet note with Chef’s clever interpretation of big apple cheesecake with a rum-infused apple mousse and bourbon-infused donuts.
The folks at Manhattan have meticulously considered every little detail – from the use of high quality water for their ice, serving only high-density hand-cut ice, and customization of their cocktail glasses – that enhances the flavours of every cocktail served, and ultimately your experience at the bar.
