If you’re like us and get all your news from Facebook these days, first can we say, shame on you.  And second, let us help by getting you ready for those weekend dinner party conversations with our very own scoop of news from the week that you can digest in 5 minutes flat.

  • Singapore’s beef with Indonesia (who decided to name their spankin’ new naval ship after two marines convicted for a fatal bombing in Singapore in the 1960s) is about to get worse – the haze from Sumatra might be back next week. Consider yourselves warned.

  • Newsflash: you can now rent art in Singapore for as low as $25 for a month. Art Loft, which sells the artworks as well, is a platform that features emerging talent on the Asian contemporary art scene.

  • As much as we’re cheering for the greater leaps humanity is making at the Sochi Winter Olympics, check out these athletes – the hottest Olympian ice- dancing couple Charlie White and Tanith Belbin, the Canadian Dufour-Lapointe sisters and U.S.A’s Kate Hansen (Beyonce approves!) – the world is crazy about for, well, being hot.

  • After 9 years of incarceration in Bali, Australian drug trafficker Schapelle Corby has walked out of prison and into a windfall – of A$2 million, to be exact. All she needs to do? Tell her story in front of the cameras, and she’s currently lounging in a luxury resort in Seminyak, courtesy of the same Channel Seven. And we were told that crime doesn’t pay.

  • Now, something we’re really excited about! Zalora is now an official retailer of the famous (and infamous for their sorta soft core porn advertising) Californian basics label American Apparel – made entirely in Downtown L.A and sweatshop free.
