The answer is in the name of this Los Angeles export that promises authentic American-style burgers done just right (pictured top). Pop by for the weekday lunch deal (11am-3pm) and enjoy your choice of signature burgers along with fries and a half pint of beer or soft drink. 13% Gastro Wine
This wine bar has a fantastic bistro menu that completely surprised us with its jaw-dropping 13% Burger. This is one of the juiciest beef patties you’ll find in town, with melted compte, tomato and French gherkins on perfect brioche. It comes with a neat salad and coleslaw on the side. Too beefy for you? Order up the Crispy Crab Burger (breaded blue crab in a soft brioche bun). Yes, you should be enjoying a wine with that. Pssst: 13% is opening on Telok Ayer soon. You’ll know where to find us.
13% Gastro Wine,#02-01, 14 Aliwal St, Singapore 199907
The Market Grill
This Telok Ayer fave is known for its live lobsters and steaks, but it serves a mean burger for that loooong lunch. Go for the Bleu: a juicy Angus beef patty loaded with melted blue cheese, bacon and onion marmalade. It hits all the right spots with its combo of salty-sweet goodness. Maybe it’s heart-attack inducing stuff, and it’s $25 a pop, but we say it’s worth every damn bite. Go on and upgrade to the Wagyu patty for an extra 10.
The Market Grill, 208 Telok Ayer St, Singapore 068642
Freehouse
“Good vibes on tap” isn’t all Freehouse offers its thirsty patrons. This craft beer bar with an exceptional beer selection also does up mighty good burgers like the fried chicken burger and the pork burger. But our standout bun? The classic beef burger – a 150g homemade beef patty with melted parmigiano-reggiano, rosemary, tomato, onion tempura, and bacon jam. Pop by on Tuesday, and you’ll get a burger and a pint for just $20!
Freehouse, 21A Boon Tat Street, Singapore 069620
The Chop House

Trust The Chop House to know how to handle their meats well. Options like the bacon, guacamole & chicken burger and the Black & Blue (one half pound beef patty blackened in Cajun spices – comes with homemade blue cheese dressing) are excellent. Oh, and all burgers are served with crispy tater tots.

Burger Joint

Photography: Burger Joint (left) db Bistro Modern (right) - Does Burger Joint live up to the hype? We’ve gotta confess, we regularly find ourselves at this hidden burger spot dropping a lot more on lunch than we expected (you’ve gotta have fries and a shake, right?). But it’s good. Really good. And it’s around the corner from our office. If you’re no stranger to The Big Apple, you’ll already know this NYC burger institution inside out. It’s all about simplicity here: choose how you want your burger done, add your toppings (you get iceberg, tomato or onion) and your sauce (bet the NYC branch doesn’t offer Sriracha). Grab a Sharpie from behind the bar and make your mark while you’re waiting. Our hot tip? Burger Join is open late: now you know where to go when those cravings hit.
Burger Joint, #03-01, 115 Amoy Street, Singapore 069935
db Bistro Moderne
db Bistro Moderne’s chart topper is the Original db Burger (available for brunch). It’s not for every budget (this one rings in at $42), but just take a look at the ingredients – sirloin burger filled with braised short ribs and foie gras – it does promise a good burger punch!

A guilt-free burger that doesn’t contain any meat? Sign us up, pronto! VeganBurg is all about promoting a plant-based diet as well as dispelling the belief that fast food equals junk food. Choose from options like the Smoky BBQ (minced mushroom patty), and the Cracked Mayo – the egg-free mayonnaise burger comes with a savoury, crispy soy patty.

Third & Sixth
Making Seah Street a hip alcove for post-work Joes and Janes is this cosy bistro-bar – and its burgers are a fine reward for anyone who swings by. All burgers contain a home-made 150g Australian grain-fed beef patty, and these sport a spectrum of flavours from Messy Mexican to a Korean Jong Un, and even a sinful Ram-Lee for those craving some Malaysian goodness.
Third & Sixth, 36 Seah Street, Singapore 188392
Fatboy’s The Burger Bar
We love ourselves a good ol’ American style burger and Fatboy’s really hits the spot with staples like the royale with cheese ($12) and oddities like The Elvis ($11): a bacon stuffed pork patty with grilled bananas and peanut butter. Though definitely a burger place, the chicken mac and cheese and the fried chicken waffle sandwich are no slouches in the taste department either.

The Armoury

This gastropub’s décor is a mix of modern and classical, referencing its history as a British military armoury. But another thing that’s traditional in this joint? Its passion for good ol’ burgers. Dig into the eponymous Armoury Burger, stacked with a 180g house-ground beef patty, candied onions, gorgonzola, baby arugula, and garlic horseradish mayo. For something differentm, the crispy pork belly and egg burger will make you weep tears of joy too.

OverEasy

Few do classic American-style burgers as well as OverEasy. All of them come with a juicy wagyu chuck blend patties served on super soft, toasted brioche buns. Our picks are the Double Trouble (two patties with OverEasy’s killer top-secret sauce), and the irresistible truffle burger, which features Swiss cheese, mushroom, and truffle mayo.
OverEasy, #01-06, 1 Fullerton Road, Singapore 049213
Potato Head
It’s a four-in-one concept here at Potato Head Folk, but for gastronomically good burgers, head straight to Three Buns, which is split between the first and second floor. The Baby Huey (prime 150g beef patty with cheese, spiced mayo, and the special Notorious T.O.M. Sauce) is pure gold, and so is the Truff Ryder (wagyu beef patty with pan-seared foie gras, confit onion jam, black truffle, and four artisanal cheeses… phew!)
Potato Head Folk, 36 Keong Saik Road, Singapore 089143
Omakase Burger
-

Omakase Burger takes great pride in their burgers. Their signature Omakase Cheeseburger is a real crowd-pleaser because of the hand-ground, smashed beef patty. Get those taste buds ready for the top-secret sauce,; it’s guaranteed to knock you off your feet.
Omakase Burger, #01-05 The Grandstand, 200 Turf Club Road, Bukit Timah, Singapore 287994
BERGS
Local lingo is all the rage at BERGS. Order the Alamack – their signature fish burger that comes lightly crumbed is topped with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and completed with some good ol’ dill tartare and aioli. Choose between the BERGS size (large) if you’re famished or go settle on a small bun for snacks.
BERGS, #01-01 Far East Square, 137 Amoy Street, Singapore 049965
Two Blur Guys
-
The chicken burger at Two Blur Guys via Facebook
This hole-in-the-wall joint doesn’t look like much from the outside, but step inside to try their burgers (all of which come with Gruyere cheese, by the way) and you’ll be impressed. The ultimate comfort food choice would be the pulled pork, but if you want something a little fancier, go for the duck rillette. Their portobello mushroom burger isn’t too shabby either.
Two Blur Guys, #01-13 Orchid Hotel, 1 Tras Link, Singapore 038981
Burger+
This new kid on the block serves up Korean-style burgers the likes of Korean Bulgogi Burger which has a sweet bulgogi sauce and cheese burger which sees a secret B+ sauce – all their burgers are sandwiched between a fluffy potato bun. If you’re feeling ravenous, make it a meal and opt for the truffle fries.
Burger+, Wisma Atria, 435 Orchard Rd, #01-37/38, Singapore 238877
Muchachos
Muchachos is one of our go-to burger spots and yes, we are aware it is an Mexican establishment. Their burritos are just what they do best but their cheeseburger is equally as good. Skip the tortillas and try the burger – cheesy, beefy goodness!
Muchachos, 182 Cecil St, #01-01 Frasers Tower, facing Amoy Street Food Centre, Singapore 069547
Moosehead
Nestled in a shop that’s endured since pre-war times, Moosehead Kitchen Bar features an array of palate-teasing Mediterranean food in a fun and laid-back ambience but during lunch time, they have sneaked a burger on their menu. This tasty, under-the-radar namesake cheeseburger is what savoury dreams are made of. The burger contains caramelised onions, pickles and a hearty beef patty that is cooked to your preference. Get your daily dose of greens by getting “the works” added to your burger (tomato and lettuce), we highly recommend it.
Moosehead, 110 Telok Ayer Street, Singapore 068579
