Pacific Marketplace 640x480

Cupcakes, what? Muffin’s back in the limelight this week, and it’s of the savoury variety at Pacific Marketplace. The word “fresh” is also buzzing lately, with restaurants including Saint Pierre, Forest, and Bincho putting out new plates featuring, well, fresh, seasonal ingredients. And if you’re already thinking about lunch next week, try a customized mid-day meal at Jason Atherton’s The Study. Tuck in!

#1 – Eight-course wine paired menu at Forest
Resort World Sentosa’s contemporary Chinese restaurant, Forest, welcomes the next edition of celebrity chef-owner Sam Leong’s Chef Table series. Indulge in a decadent wine-paired menu, with highlights such as braised abalone with black truffle and seasonal greens and pan-seared Hokkaido scallop with sea urchin served in red curry. Dinner is priced at $368++ per pax.

#2 – New Summer Menu at Saint Pierre
Chef Emmanuel Stroobant has crafted a new a la carte menu for summer at Saint Pierre using the season’s freshest produce. Think refreshing salads – summer greens tossed with artisanal burrata, yuzu zest, and a dash of fleur de sel – alongside mains such as poached prawns and quail egg yolks on a bed of avocado and pineapple reduction, and a comforting risotto topped off with barbecued eel, Japanese sea urchin, and lashings of micro basil.

#3 – Seasonal Ayu fish at Bincho at Hua Bee
Something’s fishy going on at Tiong Bahru. Unlisted Collection’s hipster Japanese establishment is now serving the seasonal Ayu fish, which is grilled over house-made coals and seasoned with freshly grounded water pepper and vinegar. Other new (non-fishy) additions to the menu include the crispy Bincho croquette, made with Hokkaido potato and cheddar cheese, drizzle in Japanese mayo and a special homemade sauce.

#4 – Set Lunch at The Study
Ok, so this is only applicable on weekdays but the new lunch offering at Jason Atherton’s The Study is too good to pass up. Diners can customise their mid-day meal exactly the way they like it – by choosing from the entire a la carte menu. Lunch is priced at $22 for one course, $30 for two courses, and $35 for three courses, inclusive of a drink and coffee or tea. Talk about great value!

#5 – Supermuffins at Pacific Marketplace
Move over, cupcakes. Pacific Marketplace has collaborated with Hai Tien Lo Cantonese Restaurant to reinvent the ordinary muffin. Called supermuffins, these savoury treats, made with gruyere cheese infused crusts and generous fillings at the core, are available in five different flavours – Chicken Run, Krrish, Minotaur, The Hulk, and Miss Piggy – with fillings like French braised oxtail, curry potato, and tender chunks of barbecued pork.
