Before you blow that budget, remember the golden rules!
Make a plan
Assess your wardrobe and be honest! Take note of your wardrobe staples for work or play. Armed with this info you are ready to spend.
Stock up on Staples
Sales are not the best time to try and fill gaps in your wardrobe. Don’t go for something that is more “out of character” just because it is less. It’s never a bargain if it stays IN your wardrobe. Instead stock up on your simple classic pieces.
Upgrade your basics
Sales can be a great opportunity to upgrade your favourites. Look for better fabric and finish on items you wear all the time. Silk tee, anyone?
Don’t be blinded by the brand
Do you love the label more than the item? It’s not a bargain if it’s still over your budget, even at 70% off. Really examine the piece and ask yourself why it’s left at the end of the season.
Put your lust to the test: walk away
Hesitating? Then walk away. Is it almost what you wanted? Can you picture this item integrated into your current wardrobe? If you love it, you will make the effort to come back – trust us on this one!
Lure of the trophy piece
You’ve seen it in a magazine or on a celeb and you cannot believe it’s on sale. Pause and take a deep breath. Ask yourself – where will you actually wear this? (If ever!) And would you still lust after it if it was full price?
You do not have to buy anything!
Always remember that the money you spend on that sale item could go towards a full price item that you really love.
