So we finally dragged our bellies home after a little too much time feasting at Savour 2013, and we don’t know how we always manage to do it… but we ate waaaay more than what we planned to. In our defence, the chefs sweet-talked us into it.
If you’re already familiar with the concept, Savour brings in top international and local chefs where they each have their own booth (and kitchen), as well as a menu that offers an appetizer, main, and dessert.
We chose to start with dessert. (No surprises there.)
Of course we went wild when we saw Choconuts on JAAN‘s menu (you might remember us raving about it in our most recent review) and had to have it (again). Chocolate fans – you’ll see plenty of chocolate options at Savour, but this is a must-try!
Fun fact: Chef Julien Royer from JAAN spotted us from across the street as we were chowing down even more dessert… Yes, we are guilty as charged.
We also curiously found ourselves in the kitchen of L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon, where the entire kitchen convinved us that it was okay to eat dessert (and only that) for dinner.
Foodies will recognize this familiar face: hello, Jason Atherton, genius behind Pollen Street Social (UK), Esquina, POLLEN, and Keong Saik Snacks (and isn’t even the full list).
One thing we particularly love about Savour every year is that you get a chance to mingle with the top chefs and chat like you’re friends. Luck out and you’ll even be kicking back with them with a champagne flute in hand.
There’s plenty to drink at Savour 2013, but our poison of choice: bubbles or coffee. Thank you Veuve and Nespresso for making our drink decisions easy!
Make sure to head to the second floor where you’ll find Jason’s The Gourmet Grocer waiting with savoury treats at every corner. Freshly cut salami and premium ham, organic seasonal fruit, healthy snacks, and uncorked wine bottles… But we chose to circle the cheese selection one too many times. Try (and buy) the smoked cheddar – it’s divine!
If you’re all about the vino, head to the third floor, fork over 10 Savour Dollars (easy money, guys), and drink to your tipsy heart’s delight. In the process, you’ll find it terribly easy to make friends with the crowd:
And don’t say we didn’t warn you: those Savour Dollars will run out pretty quickly, so get more than what you think you’ll need because you don’t want to be lining up to get more “money” when you could be feasting with the A-crowd!
