This week’s news in a nutshell:
- Harvard Business School grad Grace Choi is going to be RICH. She created Mink, a mini 3D printer that will allow you to print out any colour of makeup using FDA-approved ink. So no worries even if MAC/Urban Decay discontinued your fave shade of lippie!
- Thailand’s Constitutional Court ruled that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra abused her power in 2011 and had her dismissed. Commerce Minister Niwatthamrong Boonsongphaisan will be acting PM in the interim – elections are planned for 20 July 2014.
- Have £1.75m to spare? You could be the proud owner of Mount Blencathra, which comes with the title Lord of the Manor of Threlkeld. The Earl of Lonsdale, Hugh Lowthner chose to sell the entire peak instead of evicting tenants and farmers off the land – awww!
- It seems that Hollywood is not all talk and no action – the community is boycotting the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel because they’re protesting Brunei’s new Shariah laws (the Sultan has a stake in the hotel). The Beverly Hills City Council is even urging the Sultan to sell the property.
- Would you feel flattered (or totally creeped out) if someone took a photo of you and put it up on the WWW because he/she thinks you’re hot? Enter MRT Crush – a source of “distractions from endless breakdowns, overcrowded trains and smelly poor people”.
- We kept the sad news for last: Home Club and Sultan Jazz Club are folding. But the former will be reopening as Club Canvas in July, in collaboration with Bangkok’s now defunct Bed Supperclub.
