Nestled deep within the sun-dappled lavender fields and vineyards of Provence lies a new hotel that could very well beat Paris as the most romantic spot in all of France: Domaine de Manville.

For lovebirds and pleasure seekers looking to get away from it all, Domaine de Manville is the place to be. Previously a working farm, the 100-acre estate has been transformed into 30-room country hotel set in Maussane les Alpilles, overlooking the picturesque medieval village of Les Baux de Provence.

Alpilles native and owner Patrick Saut aims to make guests feel right at home – and he does just that by preserving Domaine de Manville‘s rich Provençal heritage and ancient architectural structures. The hotel comprises three typical farm buildings (or mas, in French), arranged around a courtyard shaded by magnificent ancient plane trees. Even the golf course was built to respect the terrain, with the greens and fairways geometrically shaped so as to resemble Provence’s signature fields.

Domaine de Manville’s 30 rooms and suites are the result of local designer Annie Zéau’s creative genius. Each of the rooms is intrinsically Provençal in nature – a study in simplicity with comfortable and uncluttered interiors, natural materials such as limestone walls, wooden beams, and locally sourced furniture.

It goes without saying: Domaine de Manville’s culinary offerings are nothing short of fantastique. Resident chef Steve Deconinck will serve up Provençal cuisine (with a modern outlook) that is rich with the freshest spoils of the territory such as apricots, rosemary honey, tomatoes, and strawberries from Carpentras in Southeastern France.

Rest assured that there’s plenty do when vacationing at Domaine de Manville. Pamper yourself at the hotel’s in-house spa, go on a 3km-hiking trail, get a hole-in-one at the hotel’s golf course, or explore Provence’s historic sights like the local markets, olive mills, and the nearby villages of the Luberon, that are all within a short driving distance from the hotel.

Domaine de Manville opens late June 2014 and rates start at S$485 per room.
