It’s no secret that we love Marc Jacobs (spot our Founder Chris and Managing Ed Nina toting his neon Natasha bag!), and a designer like that is never content to rest on his laurels. He launched Marc Jacobs Beauty in the US last year, and we’ve great news – the most hotly anticipated beauty collection of the year is landing on our shores and heading straight into your fave beauty emporium (yes, Sephora) this month!
Created with the empowerment of women in mind, the line features a grand total of 147 products. Expect them to come in a sleek, high-shine black lacquer packaging that’s inspired by – of all things – his super-glam and timeless Art Deco Jean Dunand coffee table.
Product-wise, we think the definite stars of this beauty line are the eyeliners, blushers, and lipsticks. We’re still chuckling at the cleverness of this name, Magic Marc’er Precision Pen Eyeliner in Blacquer. Honeys on the hunt for an intensely black, waterproof liquid eyeliner that’s easy to work with, this is it. The Highlighter Gel Eye Crayons will also probably give cult classic Urban Decay a run for its money.
We predict Lovemarc Lip Gel will be another popular item (we like the matte shade Shout). A type of ‘gellified’ lippie, it means high shine, intense pigment, and plumping as an added bonus! Make a beeline for the Shameless Bold Blush if you’re in the market for one. We like that they don’t give you a ton of pigment on the first swipe, but it’s pigmented enough that you don’t need too much in building your desired colour.
Fun fact: This is one designer that walks the talk, the face of Marc Jacobs Beauty is sexagenarian thespian Jessica Lange (64 and still stunning!). This might just be another (NARS’ newest face is 68-year-old Charlotte Rampling) step towards the end of ageism in the female beauty industry. And you wonder why we’re fans?
Marc Jacobs Beauty will be available at all Sephora stores from 17 April 2014. Prices range from $32 to $90.
