Party Central

It would be asking the impossible to review Petitenget newcomer Hu’u Villas without mentioning its significant others, Hu’u Bar & Club and Peranakan darling, Baba’s Restaurant.

This is a love triangle with the party firmly at the centre. Owner operators Pat and Sean are veterans of the entertainment and F&B scene, having moved Hu’u Bar from Singapore to the middle of a rice paddy some 15 years ago.  They have been very deliberate in creating a playful vibe and experience for patrons.  No perfectly polished pebble has been left unturned to deliver this stellar party destination.

Get elegantly wasted at Hu’u bar, sit up to a full Tok Panjang (Peranakan long table) feast or enjoy some gourmet late night snacks from the small bites menu.  (We particularly enjoyed the wanton wraps with minced pork and chestnut, and Sumatran coffee dipping sauce.) Dance and mingle with the stylish crowd before heading to your villa to relax and remix.  You can check out any time you like but you’ll never want to leave.

Everything here is geared towards having fun and partying in a stylish, tropical, modern venue that lends itself, by day, to a chill session with down tempo music, where kids are free to run around the expansive lawn and dip in the pool.

By night, it’s one of only three clubs in Seminyak that open till the wee hours – the beats put it in a class of its own.  It’s played host to the likes of Paris Hilton and Quincy Jones. And that cred is backed by the fact Hu’u flies international DJ’s in once a month and is the club of choice for the discerning expat crowd on a Friday night.

Just a minute’s walk from Petitenget Beach, Hu’u Villas are perfectly positioned at the Paris end of Seminyak.  There are ten villas in total – five one-bedroom, four with two bedrooms and one three-bedroom penthouse.  Each villa comes with its own private pool, neat but adequate tropical garden and plush contemporary interiors that are easy on the eye.  Spacious and stony cool, the one-bed villa boasts a roomy walk-in robe, en suite with sunken bath and outdoor shower.

The villas are designed with the party in mind. All windows are double glazed to protect your serenity once you decide the night is done. The nine villas are positioned in a row and the gardens have connecting doors so you can open up to the neighbours’ or into one big long party corridor. How cool is that?

Hu’u Villas is soon to launch the Hangover Concierge which we think is the best thing we’ve heard since Hu’u’s claim to having invented the Lychee Martini (but that’s another story!).

The Hangover Concierge will have you served with a head massage and your choice of a Bloody Mary or New Orleans Fizz (Ginn, egg white and yoghurt – hair of the dog, protein and probiotic) to get you back on the straight and narrow. Pure genius and a step up from Alka Seltzer.

In short, being the host with the most is the raison d’etre of Hu’u Villas.  And there is a lot to be said for a place to lay your head when the party’s over. But even more to be said for awesome staff who are clearly dedicated to coming up with new ways for you to have fun.

DJ classes in the villas and cooking school in the Penthouse with Michelin Star Chefs are in the works.  We’ll be back for that!
