All right drinking fiends, it’s time to meet your new BFFs: The Drugstore Cowboy, Hendrick’s, and free Bellinis. After those rounds at the city’s hottest new tables, make sure to finish the night right with a nightcap – all at the newest bars in Singapore.
The Green Door
Hung over from a night of partying or looking for a place to go to before a big night out? Check out The Green Door at Dempsey Hill, a lush garden bar with vintage décor and ace, and even garden-nuanced drinks. Signature cocktails include Life’s A Peach, Marilyn Chambers’ Tipple, and Raunchy Redhead, and feature produce freshly plucked from the organic fruit & herb garden onsite. Put your faith in their bar menu – The Green Door is backed by The Prive Group (also behind hotspots like Prive Café at Keppel and FoodBar DaDa). Highlights include Crispy Corn & Shrimp Fritters, Buttermilk Fried Chicken Drumlets, and Mexican Catfish Salad.
The Green Door, 13A Dempsey Road, Singapore 247694, p. 6479 5945. Open Sun-Thu 4pm-12am, Fri-Sat 4pm-1am.
Tigerlily
Also in the Dempsey neighbourhood is Tigerlily, a new Asian tapas bar that provides a unique cross-cultural experience. On the menu: smoked duck wraps, black pepper beef cubes, Vietnamese pork belly rolls, and even Asian-inspired sliders. Drink up with draught beer, Asian bottled beers like Chang, Huda, Asahi, and Tsingtao, and a specialty G&T section. There are only 10 cocktails on the menu, but it’s worth asking the guys if they’ll whip up something just for you; they’ll easily fulfill those thirsty wishes if they’ve got the ingredients on hand. Live music is also available six times a week.
Tigerlily, Blk 7, Dempsey Road #01-03, Singapore 249671, p. 6473 4500. Open Mon-Fri 5pm-2am, Sat-Sun 12pm-2am.
The Vintage Room
With a collection of 22 champagnes, wines, and cocktails at hand, prepare to get cozy in The Vintage Room the colloquial way with refurbished but fancy furniture. Ladies will want to turn up every Thursday from 6pm-9pm for free Bellinis. Enjoy your drink with French and Italian bites, order a platter for sharing, or tuck into a scrumptious sandwich, all prepared by Group Executive Chef Damien Le Bihan.
The Vintage Room, 37 Duxton Hill, Singapore 089615, p. 6690 7565. Open Tue-Thu 5pm-12am, Fri 3pm-1am, Sat 5pm-1am.
The Spiffy Dapper
Great waterfront view – tick. Low-key décor – tick. Bartending bigwig – tick. Head bartender and the guy behind The Spiffy Dapper (coincidentally a name that really floats our boat), George Abhishek Cherian, knows his tipples – he was formerly from The Cufflink Club. The bar pays tribute to the adventurous spirit of the 1920s and Jazz Age, translated through Abishek Cherian George’s playful interpretations of traditional cocktail and shooter menus. You can’t find many bars that are closed on Saturdays and Sundays, but fortunately their Facebook page hints at weekend madness in future.
The Spiffy Dapper, 61 Boat Quay, Second floor, Singapore 049849, p. 8233 9810. Open Mon-Fri 5pm-12am.
