Home Edit: Sweet Dreams

It’s easy to nail the science of sleep: just take one comfy bed, some silky sheets, ambient lighting, and you’ll be nodding off in no time. But if your bedroom’s a total bore in the design department, here’s some inspiration and pops of yellow that’ll have you dreaming sweet while punching out zeds.

The inspiration
We’re constantly on the lookout for fresh home interiors ideas and when we chanced upon this sunny Mid-Century bedroom set-up from West Elmjackpot. With its whitewashed walls, cheery pops of yellow and teak wood accents, it’s hard not to imagine long, lazy Sunday morning lie-ins in this warm and cosy space.

Get the look
Sweet dreams are made of pretty bed linen like the Trina Turk Ikat duvet set ($375) and a matching Anthropologie Furmah pillow ($78), that are not only easy on the eyes but also oh-so-comfortable to snuggle up to at the end of a long day.

We’d hate to bring work into the bedroom but when duty calls, do it in style with the Danish Design work desk and Fred Lives Here Elbow Chair ($342). Love to indulge in some night-time reading before bed? The Ikea Barometer work lamp ($69) makes a handsome addition to any bedside table.

To add some playful pops of colour to your bedroom without the long-term commitment of a brightly painted wall, start slow with small accents like the Chang Kian print (US$200) and Chickadee ceramic vases (US$29.95) from Crate and Barrel.
