Fab New Fragrances

After sniffing out 10 classic-but-still-awesome perfumes, our olfactory sense is lusting for more. So here are 8 new fragrances you should check out – they may just be classics in the making!

fragance 1
Bvlgari, Tom Ford, Valentino

Aqva Amara, Bvlgari
With a name like bitter water (literally), this perfume is a flanker of masculine fragrance Aqva. It’s on our list because we think this citrus-aquatic scent with notes of Sicilian mandarin, neroli, patchouli, and white incense olibanum is girly enough for it to be unisex. We like the fact that it’s really long lasting too.

Oud Fleur, Tom Ford
Another one that works regardless of gender, the Tom Ford fragrance impressed us with its depth – there’s a little something extra here, compared to other rose perfumes. The initial smoky wood smell turns into a spicy-floral scent, which probably has to do with the combination of rose with oud (agarwood), sandalwood, and resins.

Valentina Oud Assoluto, Valentino
Besides the fact that the bottle is gorgeous, this perfume has attitude, period. Not one for the faint-hearted (ie. the clean office fragrance), the main notes are of oud, leather, Bulgarian rose, and vanilla. We love this for nighttime and special occasion use, but it definitely belongs in the love-it-or-hate it group, so please try before you buy.

fragrance 2
Burberry, Carolina Herrara, Escada

Brit Rhythm for Women, Burberry
If you love the scent of lavender, you’ll love this one, since it’s the first fragrance by Burberry to use lavender (and the fresh, English variety from Kent too) as the central note. That doesn’t mean it’s a floral bomb though, there’s a musky base with neroli for a hint of sensuality.

fragrances
Katy Perry

Killer Queen Oh So Sheer, Katy Perry
This is a limited edition, spring/summer spin off of Katy Perry’s Killer Queen – basically it’s designed for warm days and good moods. Before you go “whaaaa?”, we’re not ashamed to admit some celebrity scents, especially this floral-fruity one with its berry, caramel and freesia, makes us feel young again.

L’Eau Couture, Elie Saab
No list of fragrances is complete without the sophisticated white floral, which we think the combination of orange blossom, crisp green almonds, and vanilla in this Elie Saab number does perfectly. The longevity and sillage of L’Eau Couture are also on the heavy side.

212 VIP Rosé, Carolina Herrera
If you ever need a perfume to tell you it’s party time, the 212 VIP Rosé is it. A flanker to the original 212 VIP launched in 2010, it might be inspired by the same vibrancy of the youth (stylish, modern, and creative) in NYC but it smells completely different. The Rosé’s notes of pink champagne, peach tree blossom, and sensual woody notes as compared to the original’s rum, vanilla, and passion fruit.

Born in Paradise, Escada
Fans of pina colada, take note: you can now wear your favourite drink (we mean that in a good way). With sweet, fruity notes of coconut, pineapple, and watermelon, spritzes of Escada’s newest limited edition perfume will take you to the tropical haven of your choice. Whether you’re going somewhere in summer or not, try this one out for the temporal escape you need!
