Where to get your next coffee, Thai food that we want to tuck into, and guess who’s coming to town? (Hint: they’re the last you’d expect in the food biz.)
KHA’s rolled out a new ‘Isaan’ inspired menu. Chef Adam Cliff may be new to Singapore but he’s got an impressive resume: he’s a protégé of the acclaimed Thai cuisine chef David Thompson, and has worked in some of the world’s most famed Thai restaurants including Nahm London, the first Thai restaurant awarded with a Michelin star, Nahm Bangkok, Bo.lan Bangkok, and Sailors Thai in Sydney. Expect the focus to be on grilled meats and salads – talk about a balanced meal, eh – with flavours on the hot, sour, and salty side.
So you’ve seen hot new tables, but here’s more to look forward to: VOGUE (yes, the mag) is opening a new resto in June and the group behind that is also opening a steakhouse, Bull & Butcher, come next month. Busy folks! More deets to follow in next month’s Hot New Tables (sign up or risk missing out!).
The coffee craze continues. Jewel Coffee’s gone and set up their second outlet, Jewel Café + Bar in the heart of Little India. Right next door – Liberty Coffee, the check-their-Facebook-before-going café that’s got a cult following for good reason. Our verdict? Stay tuned for the deets – it’s all going to be up in two weeks.
Move over, Wagyu, there’s a healthier beef in town. Look out for Tokachi Beef, hailed as a tastier and healthier rival Wagyu. Tokachi beef generally shows lower levels of fat than grain-fed cattle and are also higher in B-vitamins, beta-carotenes, Vitamin E, and trace minerals like calcium and selenium. The cattle are raised without the use of antibiotics and instead fed a blend of traditional herbs to increase their resistance and enhance the flavour of their meat. Get your fix at Tajimaya and its sister restaurant, Shabuya.
