Pandan explores the dilemmas we battle within as we wrestle with spiritual struggles, faith, societal pressures, online avatars and our own identity. Hazwan Norly (playwright) and Rizman Putra (director) from art collective Rupa co.lab come together for this thought-provoking play.

CNY: Sounds of Spring at One Raffles Place

This Chinese New Year event features a Zodiac Forecast showcase with detailed predictions of what each zodiac sign should expect from the Year of the Ox. And let’s not forget the CNY Festive Bazaar filled with goodies like pineapple tarts and love letters – stock up early!

Exhibition: Wild Critters AR Art Installation

Dip your toes into an immersive augmented reality installation with Wild Critters. Debuting in conjunction with Singapore Art Week, the installation blends art and science to create interactive AR visuals. Scan the QR code with an AR filter on Instagram to spot a mutated Rafflesia flower, a “Smarto Octopus” and gigantic bear-like creatures. The unique creations are designed by local artists Clogtwo, Machineast, Supercybertown, Tell Your Children (TYC), UFHO and Shang.

Calling all culture vultures! The ninth edition of Singapore Art Week (SAW) is back and given the current Covid-19 climate, the festivities are going offline and online. Sticking to the theme of “Art Takes Over”, SAW is showcasing over 100 arts events across Singapore, including its signature events like Light to Night Festival and Artwalk Little India. Also keep your eyes peeled for immersive exhibitions like CosmicWander: Expedition, an exploration of shamanistic dance cultures in Asia; and Escape Velocity V, an audio-visual presentation on the disappearing sounds of wildlife. For the homebodies, check out the digital page for documentaries on artists and a series of talks and panel discussions on key issues in the art scene.

The complex play explores the effects of climate change through the creative mind of director Koh Wan Ching. He joins hands with playwright Andrew Sutherland to revisit this play that was originally performed in 2019 by Intercultural Theatre Institute students. All we can say is, expect beautiful visuals that evoke conversation.
