Christmas without twinkly lights and sparkly decorations is like a New Year’s celebration without fireworks. In Singapore, Christmas is a rather grand affair, with streets already adorned with glittering decor and lights even before the crowds hit the stores (think mid-November!) for gift-shopping. So don’t let the year-end stress cast a shadow on your festive spirit. While we wait in anticipation for Phase 3, you can also look forward to taking a stroll down these places, which are bound to put a smile on your face!

1. Jewel Changi Airport

19 Nov – 3 Jan, 2021

It’s all about festive fun at Jewel Changi Airport this season, what with glamping experiences, craft workshops, snow experiences and more. To immerse yourself in pretty Christmas lights in Singapore, head to the Shiseido Forest Valley for a glimpse of Santa’s workshop and the 16m-tall Christmas tree. Psst: While you snap all the photos you want at the Canopy Park, keep an eye out for hourly giveaways from carts – you can snag gingerbread men, reindeer lapel pins and more!

2. Capitol Singapore and Chijmes

20 Nov – 25 Dec

Both places in Singapore will feature beautiful Christmas lights this season, with gorgeous bubble domes for dining (and photo backdrops!), festive installations, light projection shows and more inspired by The Nutcracker. You’ll find Nutcracker soldiers and a 3D trick eye display at Capitol Singapore’s Outdoor Plaza, with snowfall each evening. Plus, the facade of Chijmes Hall will spotlight Nutcracker-themed Christmas scenes when night falls.

3. Orchard Road

From 13 Nov

This year, the iconic Christmas light-up will be quieter than usual, without the street festivities you’ve come to expect from the shopping stretch (thanks, Covid!). Still, you can look forward to catching a glimpse of snowflakes, mistletoe and holly from mid-November. The street will feature almost 50km of LED string lights, as well as festive trees and baubles, so you can admire it all while you stroll or drive down the road.

Plus, keep an eye out for the 14m main arch embellished with reindeer and ribbons at the junction of Orchard Road and Paterson Road. Oh, and if you want to enjoy the view from home, check out the 360-degree views on a virtual tour from Tanglin Mall to Plaza Singapura.

4. Christmas Wonderland

4 – 27 Dec

Christmas Wonderland will look a tad different this year, with festivities going online. But, you can still get excited about the Walk of Lights at Gardens by the Bay. Admire eight new breathtaking luminarie light installations on a self-guided tour to see works like the Wishing Fountain and Path of Tranquility. Tickets go for $5 per person, with 30-minute sessions each day. Don’t forget to book your slots online before you turn up!

5. Raffles City

12 Nov – 31 Dec

A collab between Swarovski and Raffles City to celebrate the jewellery brand’s 125th anniversary, the 15m-tall Christmas tree will light up the junction between Stamford Road and North Bridge Road. Admire the snowflake ornaments, fairy lights and ribbon boxes at the display, alongside a photo wall filled with crystals for you to capture your own Christmas memories.

6. Downtown East

16 Nov – 21 Mar, 2021

Okay, this one’s not exactly 100% Christmas. But it’s all about multi-sensory installations and we love any excuse to explore the city’s art scene. Downtown East’s Lite On! highlights dazzling, IG-worthy works by local artists like Speak Cryptic, Bod, Space Objekt and Shophouse & Co. Taking inspiration from imagined landscapes, existing spaces and everyday objects, the vibrant displays are a reflection of our world. Plus, look out for $12 deals in the lead up to Christmas!

7. Malls around the city

We’ve already started seeing festive decor pop up at malls across the island. 2020 may not be the best year ever, but we can still celebrate the year-end merriment in style. Just embark on a mall-hop adventure to immerse yourself in festive vibes with all the Christmas lights in Singapore. Think giant Christmas trees, colourful baubles, glowing lights and more.

Psst: We’ll be adding in more places to see Christmas lights in Singapore as information comes in, so keep an eye out for updates!
