Ahh, we’ve been enjoying the rainy days where we get to stay home and cosy up with a cup of hot cocoa. But when it’s the weekend, we like to live it up, no matter rain or shine! This weekend, we foresee negronis, Mexican films, the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations on our agenda…
Exciting things to do this weekend
Drink: Do good while sipping on negronis
All weekend

The sixth edition of Negroni Week has gone digital (‘cos Covid) and extended its run till the end of September. Look forward to delicious variations of negronis from familiar names like Manhattan, MO Bar and Anti:dote. That’s not all. Campari has teamed up with chocolatier Benns Ethicoa to bring you negroni-flavoured bonbons. The best part? 10% of the proceeds from each box will go to supporting Negroni Week’s official charity partner: Majulah Movement (a homegrown initiative that gives back to the migrant community and healthcare frontiers). Alternatively, you can donate $10 directly to cover the cost of a set meal or snack pack.

Donate: Help out the local arts and culture community
All weekend
Deck will bid farewell to its current space with the demolition of its iconic shipping containers in March 2021. The team needs your help to raise $500,000 for a new permanent building. Show your support by donating to the crowdfunded campaign #SaveDeck Building Fund. ArtsEquator, a non-profit media platform that covers the Southeast Asian arts and culture scene, needs your help too. No thanks to Covid, it’s at risk of closing, so show your support through its fundraising campaign. Every donation counts, no matter how big or small!
Film: Mexican movies, anyone?
All weekend

In conjunction with Mexican National Day, The Embassy of Mexico and The Projector are presenting a slew of Mexican films both offline and online. Get acquainted with the rich culture of Mexico with titles that have garnered numerous accolades from the international and Mexican film festival circuits.

Eat: Get ‘em mooncakes at this virtual fair

One of the great things about the Mid-Autumn Festival is the massive mooncake fairs where we can taste classic and unique mooncake flavours from different brands in one place. Unfortunately, there won’t be a physical fair this year, thanks to Covid! Luckily for us, Sinpopo Fairs has rallied all the big players in the food scene for the largest online mooncake fair in Singapore. We’re talking about tasty traditional and snowskin treats from Shangri-La Hotel Singapore, InterContinental Singapore, Crystal Jade, Janice Wong and more.

Affected by the Covid pandemic, CD store Straits Records moved out from its Haji Lane location and has been operating from its owner’s home. Now, as part of the Front of House Project by The Substation and the Proposals for Novel Ways of Being initiative launched by National Gallery Singapore and Singapore Art Museum, Straits Records will take over the space at The Substation’s box office for three months.
