Blink and you’ll miss this mini coffee bar along Amoy Street. Still, do stop by this takeaway kiosk that serves taste-kicking coffee which makes for a perfect start to your day. Their coffee is roasted in-house, and in small batches to ensure freshness and some are bought directly from farms. There’s different flavours and characteristics of coffees so there is a favourite for everyone – just ask the friendly barista for your choices! Sarnies also aims to bring in ‘under-the-radar’ beans, which are currently only known to coffee experts, so keep a lookout for updates. If you’ve had a sip of coffee at Common Man Coffee Roasters and marvelled at the glorious taste, you’re definitely not alone. A partnership between Harry Grover (also of 40 Hands), Aussie specialist roaster Five Senses Coffee, and the illustrious Spa Esprit Group, Common Man is the exclusive distributor for Five Senses in Southeast Asia. Before Common Man Coffee Roasters, there was Forty hands. Harry Grover’s first brainchild was conceived in collaboration with Spa Esprit Group, as one of the pioneers of Singapore’s Third Wave Coffee movement. The cafe champions sustainability, direct trade and, of course, spectacular coffee made with fresh roasts. Good food goes hand in hand with good coffee, so it’s well worth sitting down to the wholesome brunch items like the Big Boy Breakfast and the poached salmon hash.
