We’re guilty of using a plethora of makeup products as much as the next woman, but let’s be honest: nothing beats a set of fluttery, lush lashes (with the help of some mascara) that’ll turn heads with just a bat of an eyelid. And since many of us are cursed with exasperatingly stubby or sparse ones (no shame though!), extensions are the way to go.
Before you get your lashes did:
Hold up, how the heck does eyelash extensions work? Before you go down the YouTube rabbit hole of eyelash extension fails – trust us, things get pretty nasty if you don’t go to a legit studio – here’s what you gotta know before you head to the salon.
First things first, there are mainly three types of extensions – mink, synthetic and silk. Want that J. Lo wink? We hear that mink is the way to go if you don’t mind the hefty price tag (expect up to $300 for a new set). Synthetic and silk lashes are affordable alternatives (prices range from $100-$300 for a full set) that are commonly used in Singapore. They are also incredibly versatile, whether you’re in the mood for natural or full-on glam doll flutters.
Each lash is carefully glued on to your natural lashes at least one millimetre away from your lash line to avoid irritation. Of course, if you want to be extra careful, make sure the salon uses formaldehyde-free lash glue. Each session takes about two hours and can last up to from two weeks to a month before your next touch-up.
Now that we’ve been eye-ducated, here are our top picks of best eyelash extension salons to get your peepers looking on point. *Wink
