Finding menus that cater to different dietary needs – whether it’s paleo, vegetarian or vegan – isn’t the easiest task. So today, we’re tackling the challenge of finding delicious and healthy plant-based food in Singapore for all our vegan friends. Trust us, these cafés and restaurants are so good that you’ll be going back for more.
The Vegan Bowl
This vegan eatery proves that rice bowls can be nutritious and flavourful sans meat. Dig into the kung pao monkey head mushroom, or if you’re looking for a lick of heat, the spicy mapo tofu will do the trick. The place also offers fusion spaghetti dishes with char siew and teriyaki.
The Vegan Bowl, #01-39, 3 Pickering St, Singapore 048660
Afterglow

Afterglow encourages a vegan – or at least flexitarian – diet for a more sustainable world. And the cafe does this by serving up a variety of farm-to-table, eco-friendly food that is anything but bland. Drawing inspiration from a range of cuisines, the menu includes the avocado kimchi rolls with homemade kimchi, the Cuban burger made with a black bean patty, and the Asian tofu salad that provides a dose of protein without the meat.
Afterglow, 24 Keong Saik Rd, Singapore 089131
VeganBurg
The world first plant-based burger joint can’t be left out of this list. Since launching in Singapore, VeganBurg has captured the hearts of vegans and omnivores alike with the healthier and more sustainable take on fast food. Classic burger flavours include the smoky BBQ and Hawaiian teriyaki, while the local-inspired chargrilled satay is a crowd favourite too. Psst: VeganBurg is now on Food Panda and Deliveroo for everyone who can’t make it to the outlet in Geylang!
VeganBurg, 44 Jalan Eunos, Singapore 419502
Genesis Vegan Restaurant
If you’ve recently jumped on the vegan bandwagon, you’ll soon realise that affordable and accessible vegan food can be hard to find. What if we told you there’s such a place right in Little India? Serving up a slew of Asian and Western vegan dishes, Genesis Vegan Restaurant could convert even the biggest meat eaters. Vegan Bak Kut Teh, Chicken Rice, Nonya Laksa, tofu cheesecake and the 7 Layer Haystack are some must-try dishes.

Loving Hut
What do you do if you’re vegan but want a taste of the most popular local dishes? You head to Loving Hut, of course. In addition to the cafe’s dedication for saving Earth, we love how it offers vegan alternatives to local favourites like mee siam, kway chap, claypot rice and more. They’ve even managed to create a vegan version of the O-Luak, a Teochew omelette dish that’s typically made with oysters!
Loving Hut, 229 Joo Chiat Road, #01-01, Singapore 427489
Wholesome Savour
Craving a hearty yet wholesome meal? Off to Wholesome Savour! Offering a plant-based menu curated by an in-house nutritionist and dietician, you can easily have a guilt-free meal here. The menu introduces Mycoprotein, a protein that ticks off all nine essential amino acids – the perfect alternative to meat and fish. Let’s cut the science lesson short and move to the food – tuck into dishes such as zucchini noodle carbonara, burrito bowl, B.L.T sandwiches and sides like dehydrated chips and soups. Save for the smoothie bowls, it’s also cool to know that all dishes are diabetic-friendly.
Wholesome Savour, 390 Orchard Road, Palais Renaissance, #B1-06A Singapore 238871
The Living Cafe

We absolutely love The Living Cafe for its comprehensive menu, labelled with vegan, vegetarian, raw, gluten-free and nut-free options. Whether it’s the satiating kale and black sesame sushi bowl or a comforting cup of matcha, the food here is as tasty as it is healthy. Cold-pressed juices and catering services are available too!
The Living Cafe, 779 Bukit Timah Rd, Singapore 269758
Honourable mention: Food Rebel
Food Rebel is a great cafe to hit up when you’re in a group of friends with different dietary needs (they’ve also got paleo and gluten-free dishes). For plant-based eaters, we recommend the vegan chickpea and sweet potato bowl, topped with beetroot hummus and tahini dressing.
Food Rebel, 28 Stanley St, Singapore 068737
