Sometimes, all you need to brighten up your mood is the nighttime breeze and the sight of something really, really lit. As in, gorgeous art installations that illuminate the night and sparkling Christmas decor that makes for pretty pictures. That’s why we’re celebrating the start of the festive season with these highlights from Sentosa Island Lights.

Show us the eye candy

Intrigued yet? Here are some installations that’ll dazzle your nights (literally)…

Cue gasps of delight at the sight of Candy Quartz (by Reza Hasni and Tina Fung), which gives the humble see-saw an incredibly vibrant update. This playground staple flanked by lighthearted murals invites a photograph and a sense of wonder around how human connections are formed.

Life feeling a little routine and rigid lately? Step into ShadowDial (by LEDscontrol) for a different perspective on time. Instead of going through the motions of your daily routine, this interactive installation challenges you to measure time using motion and shadows as you explore the space.

Concepts of the law of attraction and auras combine in an installation (by Juls and Tina Fung) that celebrates love, titled with a quote from Khalil Gibran in the book The Prophet: “When love beckons to you, follow him”. You’ll recognise this piece by the multicoloured panels (representing human auras) surrounding a half-domed centre. It’s like a larger version of those iconic rotating doors that you often see at hotel lobbies, except it’s made with rainbow-hued panels that allow you to walk to the center – a path that symbolises the idea of two becoming one.

Spot some unfamiliar lighthouses in the distance? That’s Beacon of Light (by Tina Fung), an installation of three lighthouses that overlooks the Sentosa Cove marina. Standing by the waters, these illuminated structures represent the protection and guidance that help tide us through rough waters in our lives.

Lights, glitter and a ton of festive cheer

Fancy a romantic dinner by the waters of Quayside Isle? Dine out this festive season and you get to enjoy lights and music to boot – the nightly Snowflakes Symphony is a gorgeous sight to behold every evening at 7.30pm, with a display of neon snowflakes changing colours to the beats of festive tunes.

There’s more festive dining to mark your cals for. Think $5 red and white wines, house pours and beers at the floating Boaters’ Bar, alongside an array of dining options and festive deals at Gin Khao Bistro, Greater Lot by Cedele and more.
