Ah! So much to do, so little time. Our weekend agenda is filled to the brim this September. From sweating it out at a spicy AF mala dinner and grooving to hip-hop to willingly subjecting yourself to the horrors of Halloween and spending an evening with Chinese fugitive-artist Lin Bo at Caught. This weekend has it all. BTW, have you seen our October guide yet?

Party: Kampong Boogie presents Hotdogs & Hip-hop

28 September
Victoria Wholesale Centre’s new rooftop is morphing into a no-frills open-air block party this Saturday. On the agenda, hotdogs and hip-hop. Pushin’On, the island’s longest-running funk and soul night, is taking over the deck with special guest MC Reason from Australia joining the lineup. Fung Kee Hotdogs and Papi’s Tacos will bring their delish grub. Head down to the rooftop for hip-hop, funk, soul, boogie, disco, jazz and sounds with a side of hotdogs and tacos. See ya there!

If you love the numbingly spicy Szechuan goodness that is mala, a visit to Auntie’s Wok and Steam is a must. Sweat it out with auntie’s mala claypot set ($60++ for two pax) with a choice of barramundi, Kurobuta pork collar or Australian wagyu beef along with stir-fry lotus root slices, shimeji mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms and cabbage; a side of firecrackin’ fried chicken, steamed rice and a bucket of four Andaz Pale Ales to cool down. Wanna go solo? Get the a la carte mini clay pot set ($25++).

Experience: Singapore Repertory Theatre presents Caught

All weekend
Imagine this: you arrive at the gallery and get a drink. Next, you take in a specially curated exhibition and meet fugitive Lin Bo. So what’s his crime, you ask? A mere work of art. After listening to his story, you’re the only way his story can live on… and so the evening begins! Be prepared to be tested on figuring out what’s fact and what’s fiction. After all, there are two sides to every story, isn’t it? For Caught, Singapore Repertory Theatre has commissioned award-winning director Ed Sylvanus Iskandar to create this acclaimed immersive evening featuring this exclusively curated art exhibition. You do not want to miss this one!

The ninth edition has five haunted houses, two scare zones and two live killer shows – including a haunted house (Curse of the Naga) conceptualised by the directors of the terrorising Thai horror films, Shutter and 4bia. Sidetrack: Shutter’s climax scene still gives us the chills. A little closer to home is The Chalet Hauntings featuring the most extensive collection of Southeast Asian ghosts in #HHN history. Who’s ready to get spooked?
