Theatre: Shakespeare’s Globe
10 – 15 September
Hailing from London, Shakespeare’s Globe is bringing us three exciting plays that encompass themes such as refuge and displacement. Shows to all plays – The Comedy of Errors (a tale of two pairs of twins!), Pericles (the first of Shakespeare’s late romances) and Twelfth Night (the whole shebang of drama, romance, comedy and poetry) – are available at least twice a week. There’s also an audience choice every Tuesday, where you have the power to vote for what you want to see. All you have to do is cheer as loud as you can for your fave. The play with the loudest cheer wins. It’s quite an exhilarating experience if you ask us!

Play: Sentosa’s Sandsation channels Star Wars

The force awakens at Siloso Beach as Star Wars takes over the largest sand sculpture festival in Singapore. Travel to a galaxy far, far away (alright, not THAT far) with 20 of your favourite Star Wars characters through the coolest sand sculptures. Enjoy three weeks of free entry into Sentosa, sand sculpting workshops, surprise performances, free movie screenings, and watch the professionals compete at the Sentosa International Sand Sculpting Competition. Back for its 14th edition is the famous (and free) Music Matters Live. This event brings more than 50 aspiring artists and musicians from all over the world to perform in Clarke Quay. For three nights, enjoy the musical stylings of J-pop idols Dear Kiss (Japan), Billy Davis (Australia), I Wear* Experiment (Estonia), Amazing Show (Taiwan) and many more. Most of the shows will take place on the Fountain Stage, but duck into other participating venues to see what’s going on. Pop into Crazy Elephant, The Crossroads, Le Noir, McGettigan’s, The Riverhouse, Warehouse, Zouk, Timbre Group Venues & Choice Cuts… sounds like there’s a lot happening!

Bring on the screams and scares! Halloween Horror Nights is back to rock your evenings this month. Workshop: Brass Lion Distillery introduces its first and only Gin School in Singapore

Local gin distillery, Brass Lion Distillery has recently launched its first Gin School (also the only school in Singapore) and we were invited to concoct our own gin. A perfect date idea or cool weekend activity, the three-hour gin workshop gets you a welcome drink and your very own bottle of gin to take home. Identify your gin profile (such as spice, heat, floral, citrus, herbal or juniper), select your favourite herbs, spices and dried fruits from the massive apothecary cabinet and the herb garden; prep the ingredients and distil your mixture with a mini copper pot still. After 20 to 30 minutes, your gin is ready to be labelled. Need help? The friendly ginstructors will be there to assist. Who’s ready to get schooled?
