Confession: It’s been hard to shake off images of Ghost and that iconic pottery scene. But thanks to some of Singapore’s hip makers, we’re finding ceramics cool again. By the looks of things, we’re not the only ones clay-spinning workshops are popping up all over the island and ceramic studios and stores are seeing a major rise in popularity. Here’s where to get in on this trend. We list the best ceramic stores in Singapore.

Mud Rock Ceramics

A little bird once told us that the best restaurateurs shop their gorgeous plates from Mud Rock Ceramics. The studio-slash-store makes some of the most stunning, one-of-a-kind ceramics we’ve ever seen (and shopped!). Every single piece in the studio has been personally moulded, trimmed, glazed, fired and sanded to perfection. You won’t find similar pieces elsewhere, as glazes used are made from scratch using raw minerals to achieve colors and textures that can only be found at their studio. Currently drying on our dishracks? White glazed bowls, and the beautifully imperfect coconut plates in the lead image.

We’ve been drooling over everything from Eat and Sip for a while now. Happy and intricate, everything from Eat and Sip sparks a whole lotta joy! As travellers who decided to make more meaningful purchasing decisions, the good guys behind this local label are responsible for curating unique and gorgeous handmade tableware and ceramics. If you’re looking to own and love a stunning piece from small-batch artisans from around the world, this collection will put a big smile on your face. We love that they take an extra effort to celebrate the hands that made the piece, gives us an insight into the artisans and dives into the intricacies of the object.

Supermama

We’re suckers for a good backstory and Supermama has that in spades – its name is a dedication to the founder’s wife, who, even with a kid in tow, quit her job to support his dreams. The sacrifice paid off. Today, the tranquil store has earned a loyal local patronage and a rep as one of the coolest sources for Singapore souvenirs in the form of ceramics. Whatever crockery you go with, you’re bound to leave with an exquisite find. Shop the store’s inhouse Supermama Porcelain, modern Japanese Kihara-Komon plates and extraordinarily made mugs from Arita.

Amidst all the bustling restaurants and bars in Duxton Hill is a quiet gallery dedicated to fine Japanese craftsmanship. Drop by Huls for a stunning curation of crockery, boxes and other lifestyle objects that walk the line between art and functionality. Most of Huls Gallery’s collection features luxurious creations by artisans who experiment by introducing rare materials with ceramics.  Think seaweed used to create designs on a kettle!
