It is what we do today that we will celebrate tomorrow – there’s no better way to describe the journey of local entrepreneurs and dream-chasers. We at Honeycombers know this well: Our founder Chris Edwards started Honeycombers as a humble personal blog from her kitchen table 10 years ago. Today, we’re a multi-channel brand with a presence not just in Singapore but also in Hong Kong and Bali as well as HoneyKids Asia, an inspiring parenting website.
Want to be inspired by more success stories? National Day is coming, which is why we’re telling stories of Singaporean talents – to celebrate them, we teamed up with Tiger Beer to share the journeys of three inspiring entrepreneurs and their businesses – because the journey is just as important as success.
Naiise
In a society of taking the well-travelled path, Dennis Tay broke off from the traditional route of getting a degree and pursuing a nine-to-five job by starting his own business.
Seeing the potential in local designers, and wanting to provide a platform for them, he took a leap of faith and started Naiise (@naiise). He chased his passion for bringing good local design to the market with a multi-label store and through sheer diligence and determination, expanded the venture into multiple physical stores, years after he created the brand.
Now, he’s a local success story that inspires other aspiring entrepreneurs to take action today in the pursuit of their dreams and passion.
Amos Ananda Yeo
Amos Ananda Yeo’s (@amosananda) Singapore-inspired streetwear designs have taken the world by storm, but he went through several trials and tribulations to get to where he is today.
Practising to get his design skills up to par was just the beginning. As a new designer, he faced rejection from many factories before he was able to launch his fashion line. His determination to succeed was undoubtedly a huge factor that shot him to success.
Today, his 2016 Paris Fashion Week debut and passion for creating east-meets-west designs are bringing recognition to Singapore, and we think that’s pretty amazing. His merchandise is also featured at Tiger Street Lab at Jewel Changi!
Keng Eng Kee Seafood

This family-run zi char restaurant has been around since the 70s and in January 2019, even expanded with a Mod-Sin offshoot, Wok in Burger.
The menu at Keng Eng Kee Seafood (@kengengkee) includes delicious dishes like salted egg crab, claypot fish head, butter cereal prawns, coffee pork ribs and more. While it’s a popular eating house now, most don’t know that it took five decades of hard work and dedication to propel this homegrown brand to success.
Celebrating local flavours, we are unbelievably proud of this zi char restaurant for getting the well-deserved Michelin Plate – an accomplishment that came with years of perseverance and devotion.
