Films at the Fort

Last night we attended the premiere of Films at the Fort, where we had a total blast ogling hunky men onscreen and drinking plenty of bubbles, wine, and cider. Long story short: if you haven’t already bought your tickets, you NEED to.

We had such a great time that even before the film started we kept talking about how much we were loving the whole concept. Gates open at 5 but we got there about 615pm, which turned out to be the perfect time since you get the prime spots (seriously, we had pretty amazing seats) and you get to have dinner pre-film.

You don’t have to go through the hassle of packing a picnic basket; just rock up and buy coupons for your food and drinks. Credit cards are accepted but there is a minimum purchase of $40, so bring cash if you’re a small eater (or cheap drunk).

The food truly is delish – we ordered practically every single item on the menu – all in the name of good reporting, folks – and particularly loved the burger and pizza. The truffle fries were a crowd-pleaser and the churros (made fresh to order) got us all licking our fingers. The people behind our happy tummies? None other than the Deliciae Group, behind great restos like &MADE by Bruno Menard, Sabio, and L’Entrecote.

Notice those swanky wristbands? That’s right – you’ll officially be getting one of these when you attend Films at the Fort! Our team was truly stoked to don these babies – they’re our inaugural batch of wristbands!

Now here’s the real reason to get there early: these complimentary inflatables are the bomb diggity of picnic and lounge gear. They’re only available to the first 500 each night and while they require some lung power to blow up, the comfort is worth every cubic centimetre of your effort! We loved ours so much we packed it home at the end of the night. We do recommend bringing a picnic mat just so you’ll be extra comfy – we also spied one clever group with a low table to put their food and wine glasses on.

Once dusk hits the area gets comfortably cool and breezy so those who are temperature-averse, you’re out of excuses. The food is awesome, the selection of films is spot on, and the vibe is truly unbeatable.

So from all of us at Honeycombers, get out and experience it yourself - this event is an absolute must-go!

Films at the Fort runs till Sun, 25 Aug 2013. Check out the full programme here and get busy buying tickets!
