Be still, our sugar-high hearts. Laduree has opened not one, but two outlets in Takashimaya, and our macaron mania is only deterred by our bank account.
We’ll break the bad news first: the prices are pretty steep. The golden number: $3.80 per piece, which is only slightly more than its original Euro counterpart… but still a far cry from the standard $2 price tag. There are 16 macaron flavours available, and if you’re a collectibles fan, get down quick to snag their limited edition Singapore box (a box of 8 will set you back $38).
So now to navigate the queue – and don’t be fooled, of course there’s one! On the first floor of Takashimaya (between Chanel and Louis Vuitton), you’ll find a counter for takeaway macarons – but don’t expect the frills of a standalone boutique. This counter is all business! The queue isn’t significantly shorter – the last we checked – so if you want the full-on experience, head upstairs to the standalone outlet.
The main boutique can be found on the second level (#02-09). Of course there’s way more than just macarons available here: Laduree chocolates, teas, candles, and signature merch for the diehard fans. If you do decide to join the buzz at Taka, a word of advice: skip out on the razzle dazzle fanfare of the goldleaf macarons and stick to popular options like the Pistachio (a total winner) and Salted Caramel (always a safe choice).
