Call us vain, but we take our sportswear as seriously as our workouts. Kickass fitness threads can take us from the office to the gym or the yoga studio straight away (with one less bag to tote around), and keep us motivated to exercise — because, what’s the point of buying if you’re not going to wear them? Below, a list of rad sports brands in Singapore that will give you enough reasons to hit the elliptical.
Lululemon Athletica
You’ve probably seen this Australian brand’s eclectic mix of tights on mat-toting yogis, but this snazzy brand also stocks a comprehensive range of running shorts, activewear bras, singlets, sport bags, and sweat bands for other types of sports.
Lululemon Athletica, #B1-11 ION Orchard, 2 Orchard Turn, Singapore 238801.
Adidas Originals Store
Colourful and slick, the Adidas Originals store not only houses its cult Originals range, it also carries super-exclusive limited editions and big-name collaborations including Jeremy Scott, Opening Ceremony and Bedwin & The Heartbreakers. The standout in our books? The Adidas’ Superstar Supercolour Pack Shoes in craft pink.
Adidas Originals Store, #01-09/12 Pacific Plaza, 9 Scotts Road, Singapore 228210.
Nike
… never disappoints. We adore this streetwear behemoth for their expansive collection of highly coveted fashion and athletic gear such as Flyknit racers, Air maxes and Roshes. Their stuff doesn’t stay on the shelves for long, so we suggest you get that pair of sneakers, stat!
Nike, #01-178 Vivocity, 1 Harbourfront Walk, Singapore 098585.
New Balance
Since they’ve undergone a redesign, New Balance has been riding high on the sneaker fashion trend. The concept store at Bugis Junction has an interior evoking an industrial gym feel, and carries both its high-quality running shoes and the lifestyle MadebyNB range we’d be happy to wear everyday.
New Balance, #02-15 *SCAPE, 2 Orchard Link, Singapore 237978.
Touch the Toes
Helmed by Yogis Kelly Hotta-Moung and Wuen Lin Tan, this green and stylish co-venture brings in international brands like Wellicious (London), Green Apple Active (California) and Hanuman (Hong Kong). Apparels here are all sustainably produced with organic cotton, bamboo blends or recycled/upcycled materials. Chocoholics can also satisfy their cravings with TTT’s range of raw chocolate (available to promote the cacao’s purest flavour).
Touch the Toes, Second Floor 31 Arab Street, Singapore 199730.
Under Armour
The store has a gritty, underground gym vibe, and the high-performing products from the American brand are known for technologies that include heat dissemination and scent control. You’ll also find the brand’s staples like UA Tech and HeatGear tees, compression wear, shoes and other accessories in store.
Under Armour, #B1-05 Orchard Gateway, Singapore 238858.
H&M
In case you haven’t noticed, H&M stocks a pretty decent range of sportswear. Their Sports Hub outlet has a dedicated section for that — offering lots of basics like leggings, running shorts, sports bras and tank tops. With racks replenished every week and a shelf-life of not more than five weeks, you’d be mad to pass up togs that start from $9.90 and generally hover under $80.
H&M, Orchard Building, 1 Grange Road, Singapore 239693.
Queensway Shopping Centre
If you’re not looking to make a dent in your wallet, head to Queensway to get sneakers, racquets and sporting apparel at rock-bottom prices. Shops sell last season’s leftovers, but we can hardly resist the affordable price tags. We recommend visiting stores like Athletes Domain, X Alternative Sports and Lockers Bay.
Queensway Shopping Centre, 1 Queensway, Singapore 149053.
Peninsula Plaza
There’s no shortage of cheap sport stores in Peninsula – but if we had to choose – our favourite would be Weston Corporation (#04-09). This snazzy store is saturated in an extensive range of soccer jerseys from both past and current seasons, boots and accessories.
Peninsula Plaza, 111 North Bridge Road, Singapore 179098.
