Taking the kids out for a meal can be a bit of a hair-pulling affair. Many restaurants in Singapore will provide child-friendly utensils and high chairs, but parents know too well that it’s not enough to keep the energetic rascals occupied and happy. In effort to make your lives a little easier, we have gathered a list of family-loving establishments in the city that comes with special kid menus (think fluffy pancakes and orange juices, play areas, activities, and changing facilities. It’s a big list we have here, and venues are sorted by area (central, east, west, north and south of Singapore) for easy navigation.

This laid-back Australian bistro located in the super swanky Marina Bay Sands whips up delectables like toast with honey, vegemite, peanut butter or jam, fruit salads and spaghetti with meatballs for the little diner. The Marina Boardwalk also provides picturesque views and ample space for the little ones to run around after they’re done with their happy meal.

Kith Café
Early risers, head to this Robertson Quay outlet with your tribe (it opens from 7am!) for great coffee and decent grub. Busy bodies can scooter along the boardwalk. If you’ve got very small ones, introduce them to the toybox but mind where you step – this is a popular café for people with puppies.

Brussels Sprouts
Call up your fellow parent legion! The casual vibe of Brussel Sprouts is great for big group gatherings, so feast on Belgian fare with friends while watching the littlies work up a sweat on the grass patch outside. Bonus? The moppets (aged 10 and below) eat free on weekends from the kids’ menu! Do make reservations ahead though, this place is mad popular on weekends.

Spruce
We’ve long loved this breezy space tucked into the greenery of Phoenix Park. This very high-chair friendly establishment offers both indoor and outdoor dining but we particularly like the feel of the deck. A path from here leads down to a playground that the kids will love but best bring your coffee to sip if the kids need to be supervised as it’s a bit removed from the dining area. Actually, you could always change that drink to bubbles – you have the ability to upsize to a sparkling brunch. Don’t forget the bug spray.

Rochester House
Set amidst the lush greenery, The Playhouse and Café promises sanity for adults who yearn for hours of well-deserved tranquillity. Stick your kiddos in the Playhouse – an indoor play centre filled with a myriad of indoor and outdoor activities like slides, trampolines, toy vehicles and crafts ($8.00 for an hour Play-pass, $15.00 for an unlimited Play-pass) while you indulge in tea and pastries with fellow mums at the Park Café.

The Bank Bar + Bistro
Kid-friendly dining in the CBD (we’re not kidding!) is a reality at the Bank Bar + Bistro. Trying their best (and succeeding, we think) to entice families into the city on weekends, not only do kids have their own menu that doubles as a colouring sheet – (crayons included!), they eat free with every main order by an adult. The biggest hit with the tots is probably the kid’s playroom equipped with padded floors, a selection of toys, and a never-ending screen of cartoons.

Easter Sunday at The White Rabbit, Singapore

The White Rabbit is a superbly turned out restaurant settled under the towering beams of a deconsecrated Church. The hotel-esque style brunch features a selection of fine bubbly as well as refreshing cocktails. The menu contains indulgent treats including fresh oysters shucked on demand, the Wagyu Quarter Pounder and classic Dover Sole Meunière. The charming garden is a hit with little ones that have energy to burn. Down the rabbit hole!

Extra Virgin Pizza
For a different take on brunch – go for Extra Virgin Pizza. Artisanal pizzas are adorned with fun toppings like the Nutzilla – a Nutella, hazelnut and fruit delight topped with vanilla gelato (perfect for the tiny tots!); while the Salmon Scramble is everything delicious in the classic brunch dish coupled with sour cream, capers and Spanish red onion over a béchamel base. Nom nom.

Eat Play Love
Situated in Kampong Glam, EatPlayLove is aptly vintage, whimsical and full of nostalgia. The café sells old-school Singaporean toys and snacks, and serves a mix of Thai and Western cuisine at affordable prices. But the main draw for your littlies (probably adults, who get a wider selection of more complicated crafts, too!) is the corner of the café dedicated to crafting – $5 gives each kid two hours of unlimited crafting. Definitely a place the kids will want to come back to!

Indian food typically doesn’t top our list when it comes to kid-friendly food, but Zaffron Kitchen features non-spicy and not-too-spicy alternatives for the littlies. The kids will keep themselves busy with a wooden playhouse, a kids’ kitchen and an array of wooden toys in the dedicated kids’ corner while parents linger over their meal together!

Bruno’s Pizzeria & Grill
Italian food is probably one of the kid-friendliest cuisines. Pair that with a friendly chef and a homey, unpretentious ambience, and just watch the kids lap it all up! Oh, did we mention that besides the extensive selection of food and wine (now we’re talking!), Bruno’s has a weekly specials’ menu? Well, at least this is one kid-friendly eatery you’ll never get bored of!

Batter Fluffy Flaps
If you can’t find this place, just look out for the huge, cute sheep mascot at its front door. Better known as BFF, we just love the adorable (but not OTT) fixtures and décor of this restaurant, and so will the munchkins! Check out their kids’ menu, featuring beary cute pancakes with maple syrup, fresh berries, or bananas.

Café Melba
Lots of space to run around? Check. Kid-friendly menu? Check. Big bouncy castle (on weekends)? Check. What’s in it for the parents, you ask? Located deep in the suburbia, many customers are regulars or visit with a word-of-mouth recommendation. This small, unpretentious diner features friendly staff, a decent Western menu, and most importantly, wall-sized blackboards that will tickle the creativity of older tots endlessly. They might get a tad messy (oops!) with the coloured chalk, but that’s more than half the fun!

This seafood boil operates on a simple concept that works marvellously. Toss shellfish, sides, and sauces into a transparent bag and voila! Tasty shellfish that you can eat with your hands – yep no cutlery needed! We see the light in your eyes as you realize why this is great for your little (messy) eaters.

The Garden Slug
Another quieter option on this list is The Garden Slug, which offers homely comfort food – expect big (ger) portions of Western food at a reasonable price. While they might not have as much of a set-up for the tots, the staff is really friendly to both kids and pets (yes, pets are welcome!). The cluster of pet shops around the restaurant will entertain the little ones too.

Situated in an ex-army barracks, the Coastal Settlement is great with high ceilings indoors, and patio seating outside. Al Hamra
This yummy Lebanese spot sits right on Lorong Mambong, the road that famously turns pedestrian after dark. Bag an outside seat, order the smalls a plate of hummus and pitta, then set them scooting up and down on a chickpea high while you enjoy a hot mezze. Nice little evening out and not a babysitter in sight.

How do you like your eggs in the morning? All morning, in fact, since Hatched dishes up all day. Within these yellow walls are eggs on plates in all shapes and forms, plus high-chairs, a bookshelf for readers across the ages and a menu catering for everyone, even non egg fans!

Pudding? This gem is tucked into the shopping mall at the back of HV, selling gelato, cakes and desserts and with tiny tables across the tiny mall’s matching tiny lobby, so the smalls can totter about on tiny sticky legs without going too far. Double scoop of Tiger Sorbet, please.

Da Paolo Pizza Bar
This branch of the well to-do Italian chain has a lovely covered area right on the sidewalk so you can park the loud shouty ones outside with no worries. Pizza or pasta is always popular, and with a great kids’ menu (including the never-ending pizza-designing contest) and a handy position next to the pet store you can promise good eaters a window-peek after dinner.

Oh come on, they ate all their dinner, and you secretly promised yourself one, didn’t you? We like to buy a round of Junior Scoops then grab a takeaway tub for later. Our favourites? Part of the skill of feeding kids promptly is just that: speed. If a quick fix is what you need, head to this chick-on-a-stick hangout, and it’s not just birds. Morganfield’s
Just next door to Rochester Park in glamorous Star Vista Mall is this finger-lickin’ steak house, with all the usuals on a kids’ menu that’s also an activity drawing sheet. Drop your fries on the floor why don’t you, there’s plenty more, and free kids’ meals at weekends if you’re under eight (or under 120cm – one for every adult’s main meal, max two free meals per table).

Food For Thought
Another dining spot in Botanic Gardens; you can go for the more innovative creations (such as French toast with fresh cream and spiced gula Melaka syrup) while the little ones tuck into something from the “Food for Tots” menu, like the nut and soy-free pancake with mixed berries. No need to rush your food either – there is a climbing frame outside for the kids and you can see them through the large glass windows.

At Picotin Express, you’ll have the chance to sit and enjoy the classic breakfast offerings in peace while your junior entourage happily roam the adjoining mini-golf course. The brunch menu is hearty with options like full English breakfast, American style pancakes and pain au chocolate. By night it’s more akin to a modern Italian bistro with an idyllic leafy surrounds. Picotin Express is a place you’ll come back to time and time again. It’s also perfect for a lazy Sunday evening dinner (when no-one wants to cook).

This long-time favourite is located along the golden stretch of Sentosa’s Siloso Beach and is the ultimate in family chill time. This laid-baid beachfront bar is perfect for lounging mums and dads and sandcastle building little ones. Beers, cocktails and wine are all available. Don’t worry – you can still keep a close watchful eye on them to make sure they don’t dash off into the deep waters.

Kick back and relax with a delicious latte, or an all-day breakfast dish, as the little ones climb about the little play-area at Prive Cafe. Jamie’s Italian is a corker choice for a Sunday brunch with kids. Delight in a glorious gastronomical daytime experience with the family at modern French stalwart, Saint Pierre. It’s hard to miss this majestic, colonial-style Italian fine-dining establishment. Alkaff Mansion is a fantastic spot for the whole family to enjoy afternoon tea or Sunday brunch. Although they don’t have a menu specially dedicated to the tiny tots, the expansive greenery surrounding this ristorante will see your little ones running around endlessly. So will a weekend bouncy castle.

Slappy Cakes
This place gets points for novelty factor. Get the kids involved in making their own breakfast with all of the fun and none of the clean-up. Each table comes with its own in-built hot plate so that you can mix, pour and cook hot cakes yourself. The idea is to choose a batter (5 types from chocolate to zucchini!), add some key ingredients like fruit, nuts or cheese and then layer with your topping of choice once cooked. Its lots of fun but be careful with little fingers obviously.

Paradiso
Paradiso is the brainchild of the same folks that pioneered Cuban-themed restaurants in Singapore – Cuba Libre and Nueva Cuba. Paradiso’s kids’ menu features the typical fish and chips, chicken croquettes with wedges, cheese sticks, spaghetti meatballs and pizza. Come Sunday nights, Solomon, a magician specially engaged by the restaurant goes from table to table to astound even adults with the many tricks up his sleeves and keep your family rolling with laughter.

Although a newbie to the café scene in Punggol, this massive open-air bistro provides tranquil views of the river and serves up a plethora of fantastic kiddy fare like macaroni and cheese, pulled pork soft tacos and Eggs Benedict Smoked Salmon served atop waffles. This 120-seater spacious riverside café leads down to Punggol Waterway where the littles can choose to ride a bike, jog or enjoy a morning stroll.

Just The Place
A cosy, warm and woody interior makes a great accompaniment to the European offerings on the menu. Save space for its pan-fried salmon steak with cream sauce and pilaf rice and lobster pasta. On a hot day, cool the kids off with an ice-cold mugs of apple ciders and orange juices whilst taking in the view of the straits at its outdoor dining area. A plus point: The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful to the littlies too!

The best place to get egg on your face, Ah Meng Restaurant’s Jungle Breakfast features morning treats buffet-style among Singapore Zoo’s resident orang utans.
