Legit foodies, don’t you dare miss out on the annual food festival SAVOUR, happening this weekend. Pig out all you want, but make sure you leave room in your stomach for other delights elsewhere, including waffles with fried chicken, beef man tou sliders, and kick-ass gelato.
#1 – Ready for SAVOUR?
This weekend’s gonna be extra amazing because SAVOUR – the premier gourmet food festival – is back (now till 29 March)! We can’t wait to sink our teeth into Michelin-starred and award winning creations (minus the chichi-ness of it all), rub shoulders with renowned chefs like Henrik Yde (Kiin Kiin, Denmark) and Alvin Leung (Bo Innovation, Hong Kong), and shop for hard-to-find food products at the Gourmet Market. Read on to find out more about SAVOUR.
#2 – Shangri-La Hotel’s The Waterfall gets a major makeover
Remember the chic Waterfall Café at Shangri-La Hotel? Well, things may seem the same when you step in, but now, the concept is entirely different. Now known as Waterfall Ristorante Italiano, the focus of the restaurant has switched from Mediterranean to Southern Italian. There’s also a new leader helming the kitchen; chef Marco De Vincentis takes pride in featuring handmade pastas and plenty of fresh seafood in smashing creations like the linguine allo scoglio, parmigiana di melanzane (one of our top picks – a must-try), and the zabaione all’espresso.
Waterfall Ristorante Italiano, 1/F Garden Wing, Shangri-La Hotel, 22 Orange Grove Road, Singapore 258350, p. 6213 4138.
Montana Brew Bar
#3 – Get your waffle fix at Montana Brew Bar
Can’t say no to waffles? Neither can we. Head down to Montana Brew Bar for their fresh, fluffy treats. There are the classics, like chocolate banana and red velvet, but if – like us – you feel adventurous, go for the savoury options such as the truffle mac and cheese waffles, and the Southern fried chicken waffle sandwich (served with wasabi coleslaw). Their coffee beans are from Common Man Coffee Roasters so don’t forget to order a cup of java as well.

#4 – Australian-Japanese fare at Paddy Hills
New to Buona Vista’s ever-growing dining enclave, part-café and part-tapas restaurant Paddy Hills specialises in Aussie-Japanese cuisine. Brunch (and a mean cup of coffee), lunch, dinner – there’s something for anytime of the day, from orange ricotta pancakes, to beef patty man tou sliders and spicy rice cakes. We’re also digging the décor of the space – perfect for Instagramming, we think.
Paddy Hills, 38 South Buona Vista Road, Singapore 118164, p. 6479 0800
+39 Gelato Bar
#5 – Gelato galore at +39 Gelato Bar
Super smooth gelato (made fresh daily) takes centre stage at this new outlet on Circular Road. There are eight flavours to choose from; not all are permanent offerings, so you’d have to drop by to see what’s available for the day. There have been some pretty whacky ones (guacamole and mashed potato, anyone?), but favourites like dark chocolate and raspberry are on offer as well. Psst, alcoholic options are sometimes thrown into the mix, too.
+39 Gelato Bar, 29 Circular Road, Singapore 049385, p. 6532 0380.
