blackThe city’s buzziest underground club sure knows how to throw a ruddy good party, but it’s also not one to rest on their laurels (Kyo was a finalist for the Best Nightspot Experience in the Singapore Experience Awards 2015, and is recognised as a world-class clubbing venue by UK’s Mixmag).
Barely two years into the business, the progressive sound den has grand plans to up the ante of Singapore’s nightlife – with a $400,000 facelift and a spectacular 2015 roster of prominent music-makers. Kyo, when it reopens on March 25, won’t just boast souped up sound systems, a reconfigured dance floor, hypnotising light installments like Tokyo in the future. There’ll also be five new nights at the club – Tropic Lab (house, minimal, funk and techno), Ritual (tech house), Poptart (indie), Footwork (House) and Tune (pop) – in addition to Kyo’s existing nights, so fret not, you won’t be missing your regular shindigs.
Superstar DJs like Francois K, Robert Owens and Ian Pooley may have graced Kyo’s decks, but the club is also big on local music heroes. In fact, it now has four new residents – Haan, Zig Zach, Michael and Titus – joining longtime homeboys Andrew Chow, Godwin Pereira, Norman C and Shigeki.
If you, like us, are super excited about Kyo’s transformation (we totally are!), then mark 27 March 2015 on your busy calendar for the cool spot’s second anniversary party Future Tokyo Programme ($20 for ladies; $25 for men), which has Godwin P, Norman C, Shigeki, Ramesh K and Kenneth F delivering all kinds of wicked beats. Text your crew and put your party face on – the night is waiting!
