In our book, we count Cinderella, Snow White, and Thomas & Friends as one of our biggest lifesavers. Come on, have you seen the kids when the movies are on? You don’t hear a peep from them!
So imagine what little angels they’ll be like when they watch their own cartoons on screen? Yes, you heard us right – it’s totally possible for them to create their own cartoons, and here’s how.
At the Little Animators workshop by Playing Platypus and LASALLE, kids can get busy in a real animation studio at LASALLE College of the Arts. Developed and taught by a team of highly qualified and experienced specialist educators, Little Animators will provide a nurturing and active learning environment with small class sizes (instructor to child ratio is 1:3!).
Kids will learn how cartoons and stop motion animation work and embark on a claymation adventure. With background design, story layout, scene-by-scene detail, and actual animation, they’ll learn how to become the next Shonda Rhimes of animation.
The workshop is split into two levels to cover both basic and advanced topics. At level 1, kids are introduced to cute characters called Morsey and Mop to learn how animation works. They’ll get the hang of simple stop motion before moving on to level 2, where a claymation adventure awaits. Here, kids get to create new characters and friends for Morsey and Mop.
The course isn’t just about art and drawing – it’ll be about BIG topics like teamwork, imagination, and problem solving, all made easy for junior to understand through story telling and writing.
Little Animators is for children aged 5 to 10 years old and will be conducted at LASALLE College of the Arts over 2 or 3 days. Equipment and instruction will be provided.
