Plum pudding with brandy sauce is traditionally the reserve of the Brit. While it doesn’t actually contain any plums (an old euphamism for raisins), it is preserved by a lot of booze and the goodwill of making a wish. A decent Christmas pud can be hard to come by in Singapore but there’s no need to miss – here are some sweetmeats to sink your coins into:

When only the best will do, head straight to Harrods. In the basement of Takashimaya you will find a golden stack of Luxury Christmas Puddings consisting of cherries, nuts and other fruits soaked in French Cognac, Thatchers Cider, and Brandy. 454g, $39.90.

But before you make your purchase, side-step the Harrods section and merely metres away you can weigh up whether you might want to get a Cole’s Christmas Pudding made with a, quote, generous helping of fine brandy, unquote. 227g, $29.90. They even offer a ‘green’ version made with organic ingredients. 454g, $39.
Marks & Spencer food is always reliable. When we need a crumpet fix, we head here. So too for biled sweets and all our favourite British treats. So, of course you can rely on Marks and Sparks for Christmas. Their Classic Christmas Pudding is very reasonable. 454g, $15.90.
