You don’t have to be a parent to know that kids really do say the darnest things. They also ask the hardest questions.
So we were delighted to receive a very handy resource to make our parenting life (or general adult life) easier to tackle. Big Questions from Little People Answered by Some Very Big People (compiled by Gemma Elwin Harris) is a light-hearted is a collection of over 100 real questions from kids and their corresponding answers from experts in the field.
The book’s point of difference: each answer is written in kid language (aka easy to understand), but incorporates large and compelx theories so you’re actually teaching kids something – that’s factually correct. Even big and smart people will learn something from this one! The big people who are responsible for answering the questions include names like Alain de Botton, Heston Blumenthal, Gordon Ramsay, and A.C. Grayling.
We’re sure the book will be a great gift for an inquisitive 8 year-old, but it’s much more suitable for parents who never know the answers to questions like “Why do girls have babies and boys don’t?” or “Why is blood red?” or “Why is water wet?”
Besides, we’re pretty sure you have to be a big person before you can get the outtakes located at the back of the book, where comedians give alternative joke answers to some of the hardest questions.
“Why do people have different-coloured skin?”
To make colour television more interesting.
